Piercing FAQ
-
Can I use alcohol (isopropyl) or hydrogen peroxide, or essential oils on my fresh piercing?
-
No, we do not recommend using anything on your fresh piercing outside of basic soap and sterile saline solution. Do not use alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or harsh antiseptic creams like Neosporin.
-
-
Can I change my nose jewelry to a ring before the recommended 4-6 month mark?
-
We do not recommend changing your nose (or any piercing) prior to the recommended heal time. Nostrils can take minimally 4 months to be fully healed, even if they "look" healed. Changing this too soon may lead to issues such as growth irritation bumps or bleeding. All piercings heal from the outside in, so they may look healed before they are fully healed internally.

-
Can I go swimming with a fresh piercing?
-
No - avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, lakes, or baths for the first few weeks.
-
-
Can I work out with a fresh piercing?
-
Yes, but with caution. Do not allow gym equipment touching a healing piercing. Keep tight clothing off of a fresh piercing to avoid rejection, migration, or other issues.
-
-
Do I need to rotate my jewelry?
-
No. Do not twist or rotate your jewelry. This damages the healing tissue and introduces bacteria.
-
-
Should I clean my piercing a lot?
-
Once or twice daily is sufficient. Over-cleaning can irritate the wound.
-
-
How do I handle crusties?
-
Do not pick them off with your fingers. Let warm water in the shower soften them, then gently wash away.

Troubleshooting & Health
-
When to see a doctor?
-
If you experience excessive swelling, throbbing pain, foul-smelling yellow/green pus, or fever, these are signs of infection.
-
-
Why does it look "bumpy"?
-
A small bump can be a sign of irritation from pressure, movement, or improper cleaning.
-
-
If the jewelry falls out?
-
Go back to your piercer immediately. The hole can close within minutes.
